This summer, I worked with the Solidity Trade team on a project aimed at developing a product inherent to the African landscape — Ghanaian unrefined shea butter. Unrefined shea butter is a useful product that has several applications in cooking, hair, and skin care. By investing in this product we wanted to address the lack of availability in capital for African farmers and the difficulty to access international markets in a profitable way.

The company’s business model and mission serves a dual purpose:

• Creating jobs in poor areas to alleviate poverty
• Lifting up the economic barriers to give access to international markets

Global Advances, LLC is a multinational network of talented web engineers connecting the world through web and media technology – in other words, we are an internet solutions provider specializing in bringing small to medium-size companies to the web and developing applications that accommodate their e-business strategy. • BIA’s goal is to highlight, celebrate and explore not only the African-American community in Asia, but also the thriving African and Afro-Caribbean communities; expanding our understanding of the lives of blacks now in Asia.
• BIA’s aim is to present the governmental, historical, cultural, political, commercial and tourist areas within Asia, and to serve as a hub for the exchange of ideas between people looking at Asia, for business, travel, scholarships, news, and other aspects.
